UNICEF Thailand is seeking a qualified institution to conduct a Public Advocacy Campaign on Protecting Children and Young People from Online Risks 2023.BackgroundThe rapid expansion of digital technology and increased internet access have greatly impacted the lives of children and youth in Thailand. Over 75% of Thais use the internet, and an estimated 94% of 12-17-year-olds are internet users. Children under five also regularly use connected electronic devices. As a result, children and young people spend considerable time online and face different types of online risks. The data from various research studies highlights the potential impact of online risks on children in Thailand. Children are vulnerable to online sexual exploitation and abuse, including cyberbullying, online grooming, sexual solicitation, and the creation and sharing of sexual abuse images. Between 10% to 31% of children aged 12-17 who had experienced online sexual exploitation and abuse in the past year did not disclose the most recent incident to anyone.
