UNICEF East Asia and Pacific (EAP) is seeking for a qualified academic institution/organization for the provision of Advisory technical expertise in conducting simplified approaches operational research for the treatment of child wasting in the Philippines and Timor-Leste BackgroundBoth the Philippines and Timor-Leste are classified as having a medium burden of childhood wasting at 5.6% and 9.9% of children under five years respectively1. Both countries have adopted the Integrated Management of Acute Malnutrition2(IMAM) approach. Although progress has been made in both countries to integrate wasting treatment services into the health system and scale up, coverage remains low.The reasons for low coverage rates tend to be specific to the context of the country. However, in bottleneck assessments done in both the Philippines and Timor-Leste, common threads found were suboptimal demand for wasting treatment services linked to poor community mobilization and ineffective supply chain of treatment commodities, leading to high default and non-cured rates.
